Planning Meeting for the 1st International Consensus Conference on Transfusion and Outcomes (ICCTO) 

Six MSBM board members convened a four-day planning meeting in Cape Cod USA to plan the first International Consensus Conference on Transfusion and Outcomes (ICCTO). In preparation, a 15-year literature review on transfusion and outcomes was conducted and summarized.  The results were analysed at the meeting and a concept paper was finalised. A manuscript is being prepared for publication in a peer reviewed journal. The consensus conference will be held in three stages during 2008 with approximately 20 key opinion leaders in the fields of anaesthesiology, intensive care, haematology, surgery and patient blood management.
